About
Women in the City Afro-Caribbean Network (WCAN) is a young and exciting diversity platform created for young black female students by a young black female student in the Summer of 2013.
With over 1500 members, WCAN focuses on connecting high-achieving black women with successful women in the City. The main aim of WCAN is to create a network of ambitious women, both students and professionals, that will offer encouragement, empowerment and elevation for black women hoping to enter any industry in the City. We are a network of intelligent, diverse, well-rounded female students connected to a diverse group of leading organisations across the City.
WCAN hosts events tailored to the specific requests of our members and sponsors, which principally focus on career development, personal enrichment, and female leadership, as well as specific skills-building, professional networking, and career mentorship initiatives. WCAN aims to offer honest and targeted insight into what it means to be an impactful woman in the workplace.

INSPIRATION
We aim to inspire bright female students to pursue high professional and personal goals. We want to arm the talented and motivated women of our generation with the confidence and insight required to pursue successful professional careers and to become successful leaders of their generation.
MENTORSHIP & SPONSORSHIP
We aim to promote strong and long-lasting relationships with women working in the City, which in time will to become pillars for entry into the workplace as well as future career progression.
LEADERSHIP & STRENGTHS
We aim to amplify the impact that women have in the workplace by highlighting their strengths and encouraging the interchange of information centered around personal and career development.
